“STARS SOCIAL SCENE”
Those in attendance at Minooka Park were Richard/Debbie-Hosts, Tim, Lawrence/SaraLee, Mickey/Julianna, Brian/Dara, and Walter/Barbara. The days were perfect, albeit the wind, and very chilly nights. Richard/Debbie set up their “pavilion” tent so we were under cover for the Sat. Potluck Supper and Quarterly Business Meeting. The tent is perfect when a rec room or pavilion is not supplied by campground. A special Thank you to Richard and Debbie for putting the club’s comfort in their budget. I am sure we will be using the tent (with their permission) at any time it is convenient for them. We were so happy our firebug Walter had brought plenty of good wood to burn each evening &/or night. His fires get so hot that one can stay exceptionally comfortable (oops.... except for the “smoke follows beauty” folks). Dara rested her feet upon the fire ring when she noticed her feet getting a bit too warm. Sure enough, the hot ring had melted stripes on the soles of both of Dara’s new shoes. Julianna was wearing a pair of Nikes (borrowed from daughter) but thanks to Dara’s hot foot, Julianna was able to remove her shoes before any mishaps. Shortly after that, “Sir Firebug” was stoking his fire and he flipped a hot ember (like it was a pancake!) on a tiny, little, defenseless, innocent, minding her own business type of an old lady (we won’t mention any Julianna names). Yep, he was trying to make me hot! We enjoyed many funny jokes, Dara’s un-browned blueberry muffins, stories (sorry if you weren’t there to defend yourself), dogs, dogs, and more dogs even pictures of dogs. Tim was in his antique pop-up and also provided a nice fire for the evenings. His camp was outstanding…..right down to his kitchen set-up in the back of his vehicle. We can only imagine all the stories Richard and Tim could tell that involved their pop-up camping adventures. Don't forget to send in your pictures so we can post them on our web site www.wandering1.weebly.com
“CELEBRATIONS”
March Birthday: Tim -5th Mickey -26th
April Birthday: Joshua – 12th
May Birthdays: Debbie 16th, Marilyn -21st, and - 23rd
No anniversary dates on file for Mar, Apr, and May
” THIS AND THAT”
We didn’t get to see much of Debbie at the camp-out. She was feeling quite poorly when she arrived and she worsened each day thereafter. I know she was glad to get home to her own bed. Get well soon, Debbie, and we hope you are feeling better. Let us know!!!
We learned that JoAnne is not as hip as she once was. She fell down and had to have emergency surgery on her hip. We all send our prayers for a quick recovery. Jo Anne, we can’t wait until you can come to a camp-out and tell us the “rest of the story” as we only have Oma’s rendition. **smile**
Sad news from Cliff regarding Audrey "Our journey did not proceed in the direction we had hoped for, while she fought hard and we all prayed for a better outcome. Audrey passed away Sunday March 10, 2013, she is now with the Lord and in a much better place"
She and her husband were Co-International Events Manager of the Starcraft Camper Club, she and her husband had a love of travel and discovering new places. Cliff and Audrey were at most of the Rebel Jamboree's spending a lot of time with our club
“KUDOS”
Thank you Richard (and your sickie wife, Debbie) for hosting our March camp-out. The potluck turned to be a good idea. All enjoyed the time spent together ~~ and special thanks for use of your portable pavilion.
Until next time, Safe Travels to All
Fund-a-mentally Yours
